Maggie Mackay is a Scot, living in a Fife coastal village. She is a retired teacher with an MA in German Language and Literature and several teaching qualifications, principally in additional support needs.
She is in the second year of a Masters in Poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University, having gained distinctions in the Open University courses, Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing and shares critical feedback on fellow students’ work through the weekly writing workshops, having previous experience of this on courses with the Poetry School, e.g. Sonnet Studio, Spring 2013, 5 Easy Pieces, Summer 2014 and Open Workshop with Richard Osmond, October 2014.
She is a member of the 52 group led by Jo Bell https://fiftytwopoetry.wordpress.com/ and a contributor and editor within the collective www.allwritethen.wordpress.com/ which published the Still Me… anthology, 2013 (www.pewter-rose-press.com ).
In addition to a Writers’ Forum competition win,her poems have appeared in Sea of Ink and Fields of Words (www.inkpantry.com ) and in Word Bohemia, Ink, Sweat and Tears, The Lake Bare Fiction and The Dawntreader, and forthcoming in The Interpreter’s House, Obsessed with Pipework and Indigo Dreams Press. She has read her poems at the Shore Poets in Edinburgh and at a North East Writers 52 event.
In her leisure time she travels, does Pilates to prevent rusting up, sings in a choir, hangs out with friends eating, goes to literature events, jazz concerts, and drinks whisky. She has an ever growing poetry library… and is an enormous fan of the Scottish Poetry Library.
